CLM's Long Standing Legacy In Ontario

Our History

Setting The Foundation

In 1946, C.L. Martin (the company's namesake) started a small, independent construction business in his hometown of Floradale, ON.

Built on hard work, trust, and integrity, his business grew quickly throughout the 1950's. Soon, the company was incorporated.

Building Upward

In 1960, C.L., as he was known, felt that the future lay in the portable structure business and, in 1966, the first six modular buildings were constructed and leased.

By 1975, building on their solid foundation of expertise in the construction industry, the business had fully pivoted from construction to specializing in leasing and moving modular buildings within Southern Ontario.

Rising to New Heights

Coming into the 2000's, business had expanded further into Central Ontario. With a staff made entirely of local, skilled admin and crafts workers, CLM established themselves as a fundamental, economical pillar within their local community.

Creating New Opportunities Through Partnership

With demand for portables continuing to rise and trust in CLM's classrooms only strengthening, CLM needed further support to continue their growth.

This is when Black Diamond Group, through principal brand BOXX Modular, entered the picture. Canadian-owned and operated with decades of experience in the modular industry across the country, Black Diamond saw CLM's massive potential. They officially acquired C.L. Martin in 2022, bringing their years of knowledge and experience to the table. With their support, CLM expanded their reach to all of Ontario.

A Bright Path Toward Future Success

Today, CLM is still a community-minded, small-town business at its core. Their supply of portables has reached over 1000 units, with the CLM team growing to around 30 members comprising 100% local management, admin, sales, and crafts workers, many of which were born and raised in the area.

With their unique and dedicated in-house team, CLM is looking forward to their promising future innovating classroom spaces in Ontario.
